Starting from Palermo with a time trial, 198 riders will start and with us the LPR-Ballan TEAM: Danilo Di Luca winner of the 2007 Giro, Paolo Savoldelli, Paolo Bailetti, Gabriele Bosisio, Riccardo Chiarini, Giairo Ermeti, Jure Golcer, Daniele Pietropolli, Alessandro Spezialetti.

The GUI - Giudice di ultima istanza - of the CONI discharged Danilo Di Luca for doping. CONI anti-doping prosecutors speculated that Di Luca took injections that altered his hormone level in the time between the International Cycling Union (UCI) anti-doping control following the Zoncolan stage during the last GIRO D'ITALIA .
