Built one workshop outside Modena. Fourteen people. Twelve hundred lids a year, made by hand.
Find Your HelmetA Note From the Workshop
Selev started in 2014 in a 4,200 square foot workshop outside Modena, founded by composites engineers Marco Selev and Elena Vento — both trained inside the technical offices of Bell and Shoei before they decided they wanted to build fewer lids, more carefully. The team is fourteen people. Four composite technicians. Three leather artisans. Two in-house safety engineers.
Twelve hundred helmets a year is not a marketing figure. It is the number a single workshop can handcraft without the surface preparation, paint cure, and leather trim moving off the bench. We do not intend to grow that number.
Every shell begins as hand-laid carbon fiber, cured in our own autoclave on a cycle borrowed from the Formula 1 supplier Magnetti Marelli. The inner liners are cut and sewn by a certified partner in Portugal, then fitted and trimmed in Modena. Bespoke paint programs run fourteen base shells across twenty-four hundred verified color and graphic combinations, with a six-week lead time from first sketch to finished lid.
